Northern Pike of 10 plus pounds, 8 pound Walleye, jumbo yellow Perch and knuckle busting White Bass of 3 pounds are not uncommon when fishing Devils Lake. Devils Lake is home to hundreds of species of birds, waterfowl and a diverse array of wildlife. Buffalo can be spotted grazing in the fields. North Dakota is one of the few spots left in America where you'll find more critters than folks.
Ice Fishing on Devils Lake is becoming very popular. Many perch, walleye, and northern pike are caught each winter. Devils Lake fishermen have yet to pull a 3 pound perch out of her waters but that is what brings a lot of people back each year. On February 26, 2005, a record-breaking 46" 29 lb 2 oz Northerm Pike was caught through the ice.
Some of the hot spots for Devils Lake in the wintertime include Rocky Point, Cactus Point, Minnewaukan Flats, Highway 20, and Highway 57.
